Which class to pick for playing solo
An honest look at how each class handles leveling and questing on its own in 3.3.5a, and how bots change the picture.
"Solo" means something different on HoneyWoW: you are never really alone, because a bot healer or tank is one invitation away. Still, there are moments when you just want to quest by yourself, and some classes are much more comfortable doing it. Here is how they compare in 3.3.5a.
The easiest
Hunter
The classic solo class. The pet tanks while you shoot, you can feed and heal it, and Feign Death gets you out of almost any mistake. Beast Mastery makes leveling very relaxed. Weak points: you depend on the pet, and you need to buy ammunition and keep bag space for it. Plan your pet with the pet calculator.
Warlock
Damage over time, a Voidwalker that holds enemies and Drain Life to heal yourself: Affliction can chain pulls with barely any downtime. Life Tap recovers mana from health. Weak points: soul shards take bag space, and the early levels are a little slow until you get your key spells.
Death Knight
Strong from the first minute, with good self-healing and plate armor. On this realm, though, Death Knights only unlock after one of your characters completes The Burning Crusade stage, so it won't be your first character.
Very comfortable
Paladin
Very hard to kill: plate, heals and bubbles. Retribution is a steady leveler, and you can always heal yourself or switch to tank. Weak point: the first levels are slow, and you have few ways to escape a fight that goes wrong.
Druid
The most flexible: bear for tough pulls, cat for damage, healing spells when things go badly, and travel forms that save a lot of time. Feral is the usual leveling spec. Weak point: you have many buttons to learn and gear for several roles.
Shaman
Enhancement hits very hard once it gets Stormstrike and dual wield, and it can heal itself between pulls. Weak point: the start is clumsy and totems need some attention.
Priest
Shadow is solid: shields, damage over time and self-healing let it fight several enemies. Weak point: before Shadowform it relies on the wand, and it is fragile if enemies reach melee.
Need a bit more skill
Mage
Frost mages kill groups of monsters with area spells faster than anyone, and conjure their own food and water. Weak point: very fragile; a bad pull means running away or dying.
Rogue
Stealth lets you skip enemies and pick your fights, and damage is high. Weak point: no self-healing, so you rest a lot, and it struggles against several enemies at once.
Warrior
The best tank in many situations and great in groups, but the hardest class to level alone: it depends heavily on gear and rests after almost every fight. On HoneyWoW this weakness almost disappears: bring a healer bot and the warrior becomes a machine.
